Happy Friday guys! I don’t know about you, but over here the weekends are probably some of our busiest days of the week! I thought that this would be the perfect time to take a minute and think about what you are doing to take better care of YOU, because if you are anything like me you tend to take care of everyone else first! So let’s talk self-care!
There are some misconceptions about what self-care actually is. I mean, on the surface, I absolutely take care of myself. Mama gets her hair and nails done regularly, and you know my lashes are always on point. But these things are more self-maintenance than self-care.
Real self-care is a deliberate activity we do in order to take care of our mental, emotional, and physical health.
Now, how much of that do you really do between work, kids, housework, etc? I have recently begun to understand the real meaning of self-care, and I want to share this journey with you! Each Friday I will share a form of self-care you or your family can implement and hopefully identify a particular form of self-care that works best for you.
Today I want to share the form of self-care I find most beneficial in finding balance in my life:

Quite frankly, I find the mental benefits of exercising to far exceed the physical for me. Each Thursday I sit down with my calendar to plan my coming week. I schedule 3-4 workouts that I ENJOY and get my heart pumping into my calendar just like any other appointment I make. If I am unable to get to the gym one day, I will try and at least get in an outdoor walk. Some sort of movement must happen every day to maintain my sanity! When I start getting super anxious and short-tempered, the first thing my husband asks is, “Have you been to the gym lately?” LOL
Emotional benefits of exercise include:
Reduced feelings of depression, stress, and anxiety
Enhanced mood and overall emotional well-being
Increased energy levels
Improved sleep
Now it’s your turn. It is time for you to take care of you!
Remember, this will be something you actively plan on so add it to your calendar!
Do you have a self-care routine or a particular type of self-care that helps you maintain balance in your life? Drop a comment below and tell me!
Until next time, Be Bold! Xo
